Bio

I am originally from Charleston, SC. I married a Citadel cadet who became a Marine and that's how I ended up in Jacksonville. We have been married for over 30 years and have a son, Nicholas, who lives in Raleigh with his wife, Virginia, and daughter, Mykaela; a daughter, Adrianne, an NC State graduate who is a mutual fund accountant in Denver, Colorado; and a daughter, Alexis, a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill who is now a social worker. We live in Swansboro with our dachshunds (Oliver & Charley)!

I have been teaching Art in Onslow County since 1991. I have been at White Oak High School since 1995. I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I am also the Past-President of the North Carolina Art Educators Association. I recently served on the NC Senate Joint Legislative Select Study Committee on Arts Education in North Carolina Public Schools!! I was recently selected as North Carolina Art Educator of the Year.

I am really interested in photography, metals and jewelry. I love to travel and take students to Europe every other year (six times now! love those museums!). I was also selected to go on a fellowship to Turkey in July 2007. I am currently planning another student trip to Europe for June 2013.
