As you are aware, Onslow County Schools has been battling a virus on our internal computer network. Much progress has been made, but there is still some work to be done. We wanted to make you aware that this virus can send out emails that that appear to be from an Onslow County Schools' staff member – a practice known as “spoofing.”

If you receive any emails asking you to click on a link or open an attachment, please contact the sender directly to confirm that they did, indeed, send you the email. Suspicious emails can safely be deleted as long as you do not click on any links or attachments contained within the message.

If you have questions, or wish to forward a suspicious email to us for examination, you may contact us by email at We have also created a more detailed document describing email spoofing, which will be posted on the district website homepage under District News.
